The Sharing a New Song in 2026 is a transformative journey celebrating music, culture, and history. From the vibrant energy of Accra to the historic castles of Cape Coast and the cultural heart of Kumasi, participants will immerse themselves in Ghana’s rich heritage.

The tour blends inspiring choral performances in unique settings, including historic landmarks, with meaningful connections to local communities. Experience the beauty of Ghanaian traditions through drumming workshops, a naming ceremony, and the artistry of Kente weaving. Explore breathtaking natural landscapes, walk through history, and trace the deep roots of African musical traditions.

This unforgettable journey offers a harmonious blend of cultural exchange, artistry, and discovery, leaving participants inspired and enriched by the spirit of Ghana.

PROPOSED TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1 | Friday, June 26

DEPART FOR GHANA

Depart from the US on an overnight flight bound for Accra, Ghana.

Select meals, snacks, and refreshments will be served on board the flight.

DAY 2 | Saturday, June 27

WELCOME TO GHANA!

Upon arrival in Accra, your Music Contact International tour manager and your Ghanaian guide will greet you at the airport.

Together, board your waiting motor coach and transfer to your hotel.

In the evening, enjoy a special welcome dinner at a local restaurant, a vibrant introduction to Ghanaian hospitality and cuisine.


DAY 3 | Sunday, June 28

SIGHTSEEING & SINGING IN ACCRA | CONCERT*

Breakfast is served in the hotel dining room.

Start your day with a dive into the cultural heartbeat of Accra on a guided city tour of Accra. See Independence Square, also known as Black Star Square, and its thematic centerpieces, Independence Arch and the enclosed Flame of African Liberation.

The tour will end at the Accra Crafts Center, where you will have the opportunity to purchase handmade crafts such as drums, masks, Kente cloth, and clothes. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant,

In the evening, the SANS Chorus performs its first concert, sharing music with a local audience.

Conclude the day with dinner at a local restaurant and return to the hotel.


DAY 4 | Monday, June 29

ACCRA TO ELMINA | WORSHIP SERVICE*

After breakfast this morning, check out of your hotel and transfer to a local church.

SANS Chorus will perform the music for the morning worship service.

Following the service, lunch is served to the group at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, travel to the historic town of Elmina and settle into your hotel. Unwind with dinner at the hotel, then enjoy free time to stroll along the beach or relax by the pool.


DAY 5 | Tuesday, June 30

KAKUM NATIONAL PARK & ELMINA CASTLE | CONCERT*

After breakfast is served at the hotel, board your motor coach and head to

Kakum National Park. Explore the lush beauty of of the park as you wind your way through the Coastal Savanah Lush jungle forests, and indigenous Ghanaian species and experience an exhilarating walk along the canopy ropeway which sits at over 125 feet above the forest floor.

En route, stop for lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, return to Elmina and prepare for an evening concert.

Meet in the hotel lobby and transfer to the iconic Elmina Castle, where the Sharing A New Song Chorus’s music will echo through this historic space before a local audience.

Enjoy dinner back at the hotel.



DAY 6 | Wednesday, June 31

CAPE COAST AND JOURNEY TO KUMASI

Breakfast is served at the hotel.


Check out of your resort in Elmina following breakfast this morning and head to the Cape Coast Castle for a powerful and moving experience with a local guide that delves into the history of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. Built in the 15th century, this fortress was one of the primary prisons used during the era of the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade. Today, the fortress has been preserved as a UNESCO world heritage site as a reminder of all of the horrors that befell so many Africans. Their captivity began here, as did/their yearning to live free once again.

After lunch head north towards the city of Kumasi, the cultural capital of Ghana. The city of Kumasi has a population of approximately three million people and serves as the royal capital of the Ashanti State. Tradition has it that the city was founded by the first Asentehene, Nana Osei Tutu, who relocated there from his former capital of Kwaman in 1695. Kumasi rapidly acquired the status of the largest and most important city in the Ghanaian interior and was the inland terminus of most of the major 18th century slave-trading routes to the coast.

This evening, check in to your hotel, where dinner at the hotel restaurant will be arranged.


DAY 7 | Thursday, July 1

MANHYIA PALACE | KUMASI FORT | CONCERT*

Breakfast is served at the hotel.


Board your motor coach and transfer to Manhyia Palace, home of the leader of the Asante Kingdom. Spend the morning visiting the Palace and also visiting the Kumasi Fort, the oldest building in the city, and the Okomfo Anokye Sword, an important symbol of Asante unity.

Lunch is served to your group today at local restaurant.

Continue on to a local village where you will discover the artistry of Kente weaving and Adinkra crafts. Visit Ntonso, a town noted for its Adinkra Crafts.

In the evening, SANS Chorus performs a concert for a local audience at a church. Enjoy time to socialize with the audience after the concert.

Following the performance, dinner is served at a local restaurant.



DAY 8 | Friday, July 2

DRUMMING WORKSHOP | KUMASI TO ACCRA

Following breakfast, check out of your hotel and start your day with a hands-on drumming workshop by a professional drum team. The workshop will focus on techniques and the historical significance of the drum to Ghanaian culture.

After the workshop, stop for lunch before making your way towards Accra in the afternoon.

Dinner is served at a local restaurant followed by free time to explore Accra 's lively night-life. You may wish to experience live Ghanaian music at a local jazz club.



DAY 9 | Saturday, July 3

SIGHTSEEING IN LOCAL VILLAGES | IMPROMPTU PERFORMANCE*

Breakfast is served at the hotel.

After, board your motor coach and travel with your local Ghanaian guide to a nearby village where you will participate in a traditional naming ceremony and there will be African drumming and dancing.

SANS Chorus will even have the opportunity to share your music with the local community during an impromptu performance.

Following the visit, lunch is served at a local restaurant.

Head to the Accra Crafts Centre, enjoy an opportunity to purchase handmade crafts such as drums, Kente cloth and clothes.

Dinner is served to the choir this evening at the hotel restaurant.



DAY 10 | Sunday, July 4

MUSICAL WORKSHOP | RETURN HOME

Following breakfast, check out of your hotel board your motor coach and depart for the Kotoka International Airport and your flights home!

Depending on your exact flight schedule, there may be time today for a workshop, led by a Ghanaian professor, tracing the roots of African spiritual music, deepening your appreciation for its global impact.

After a festive farewell meal, prepare for your journey home, carrying with you the unforgettable spirit of Ghana.

*These arrangements are pending confirmation. Confirming concerts is a process, which requires registration of your ensemble for this tour along with your current biography, sound samples, photos, and repertoire.  In some cases, additional separate applications must also be submitted.   Organizers, venues, and hosts need to then approve each proposed concert.  Music Contact International manages this process and is excited to share updates as performances confirm.

We have a system for handling scholarships and monies from fundraisers as well. If for any reason you prefer to collect payments from your travelers and send us a group payment, that’s fine too!
