Perform in Italy with your choir!

Benvenuto in Italia!

This exciting tour to the Alta Pusteria Festival and Tuscany International Choral Festival will whisk you into a world of immense beauty, culture, history, and most importantly, music.

The musical traditions of Italy range across a broad spectrum, including instrumental, vocal, theatrical, and a diverse array of folk traditions as stunningly different as the country’s many regions. Italian contributions to western classical music include standardizing scales, harmony, and notation. Italian theatrical productions led to the development of opera, and it was here that cornerstones of classical music cannon, such as the concerto and symphony were born. One can still hear the sounds of Claudio Monteverdi and Giuseppe Verdi sounding through the narrow streets!

DAY 2 | Wednesday, June 10

ALTA PUSTERIA FESTIVAL | OPENING CEREMONY

Benvenuto in Italia! Your Music Contact International tour manager will be waiting to greet you in the arrivals hall of the airport. Together, board a private motor coach and transfer to Val Pusteria.

Located at the foot of the Dolomite Mountains along the Italy-Austria border, this idyllic valley is a fabled winter sports destination, and in the summertime reveals a breathtaking sea of greenery and wildflowers.

Check into your lodge-style hotel and refresh before a celebratory toast and welcome dinner of Tyrolese specialties in the hotel dining room.

All festival groups are then invited to an Opening Concert at Gustav Mahler Hall in the charming resort town of Dobbiaco.

DAY 3 | Thursday, June 11

WELCOME CELEBRATIONS | FESTIVAL CONCERTS

Wake up to your first full day in Italy! Enjoy a fresh breakfast at your hotel each day of your stay.

Festivities begin this morning at the "Festa di Benvenuto", with a welcome party and informal performances atop the Plan de Corones mountain. A stage is set up under the campana—the second largest bell in Italy— where each ensemble is invited to share a song. The presentation ends with the tolling of the bell reverberating through the alpine landscape.

Enjoy free time afterward for lunch at your leisure.

This afternoon, the North Valley Chorale joins participating choirs in a series of open-air concerts, performing for one another as well as local audiences who delight in the diverse repertoire from around the world! Ride by cable car to reach your first concert venue destination - quaint mountainside ski huts! Then, perform at the foot of the majestic medieval castle at Monguelfo.

Tonight, dinner is served at the hotel followed by more concerts and performance opportunities throughout the region.

DAY 4 | Friday, June 12

FESTIVAL CONCERTS

Outdoor concerts continue today at stunning natural and historic sites including stages at Braies and Anterselva lakes and in fairytale medieval courtyards.

There will be time this afternoon for lunch at your leisure.

After dinner at your hotel, enjoy a leisurely evening in the Val Pusteria—stroll through a charming central square or hop on convenient public transportation to a nearby town to attend a festival concert.

DAY 5 | Saturday, June 13

PARADE OF CHOIRS | FESTIVAL CONCERTS | FAREWELL DINNER & CONCERTS

Choral concerts continue throughout the morning and early afternoon.

Afterward, ensembles gather for the Parade of Choirs—a highlight of the Alta Pusteria Festival in the center of San Candido. After the mayor’s official greeting, singers parade through the charming streets. The procession ends with an exuberant massed sing!

Return to your hotel for a farewell dinner of traditional cuisine, followed by a final celebratory round of performances.

DAY 6 | Sunday, June 14

CLOSING CEREMONY | TRANSFER TO VENICE

After breakfast, meet in the lobby of your hotel for check-out and load your luggage onto your waiting motor coach. Depart for Sesto, for the closing festival ceremony.

This morning, the annual “Festa dell’Arrivederci,” or Closing Ceremony, is held in Sesto. Choir directors are awarded a Certificate of Participation for their contributions to the festival and invited back as honorary members of the Alta Pusteria singing community!

The Alta Pusteria Festival concludes around lunchtime. Together, board your motor coach and depart for the Venice.

Your motor coach will drop your group off at the Venice train station.

Sing in turn with other festival choirs and enjoying listening to choral presentations from around the world!

The afternoon is for exploring the quaint marketplaces and cafés. While there, ride the funicular up to Montecatini Alto, the ancient hilltop part of town with spectacular views of the city below. Enjoy dinner on your own at one of the many local restaurants.

This evening, music fills the air as choirs perform public concerts in Piazza del Popolo. Residents look forward to the choral concerts each year and turn out enthusiastically for your performances in their town center!

Tonight, choirs are treated to a traditional Tuscan dinner followed by the Festival Closing Ceremony, where ensembles are officially recognized and thanked for their musical achievements. A shared choral piece rounds out the festivities amidst rounds of joyful impromptu singing!

DAY 13 | Sunday, June 21

CHURCH SERVICE | LUCCA

Start your day singing for mass and worshipping at a local church. The congregation will be uplifted by the songs you contribute to their Sunday service.

Upon arrival, enjoy a guided walking tour of the city. Explore the city’s well-preserved Renaissance walls, Le Mura di Lucca, charming medieval streets, Roman amphitheater square, ornate churches, and landmarks like the Guinigi Tower and Puccini’s birthplace, revealing Lucca’s rich history and timeless elegance.
