The Surf Mission

To create “best of the best” experiences and opportunities for youth soccer players through our clubs, events and facilities.

WHAT IS SURF SELECT?

The Surf Select program brings together the most talented players and coaches from all of Surf Nation to compete together under the Surf banner at the highest levels. Surf Nation encompasses 55 Surf and affiliate clubs across the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Through a series of regional and national events, players within Surf Nation, will be selected to represent Surf Select in national and international competitions.

SURF SELECT PROGRAM 2023

The 2023 season saw 32 teams travel throughout the US, Europe and South America to compete at some of the best youth soccer tournaments in the world.

Our Surf Select Girls 2010 Blue team tasted success at the SuperCupNI, Girls 2009 White team won the Foyle Cup Ireland and Girls 2006 Blue team finished top at the Surf Cup in San Diego.

Five Surf Select teams finished as Runners-Up at the Foyle Cup, SuperCupNI, Royal PreSeason Cup and Surf Cup.

Our final 6 Surf Select teams travelled to Barcelona, Spain to compete at the 3rd edition of the Surf Cup International in November 2023.

The tournament included FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Olympique Lyon, Sporting Lisbon, Leicester City, Rangers FC, Valencia, Villarreal, Atletico Mineiro, PSG and more!

Most notable our Girls 2009 Blue team were finalists, losing out to Real Madrid at the final hurdle.

SURF SELECT ID EVENTS 2023-24 SEASON

Step 1 - Player recommendation from Club Directors.

Step 2 - Player attends Surf Select Regional Program ID Events.

Step 3 - Player gets identified and selected from Regional ID event to participate with their Surf Select Regional program at Surf Select National Showcase in February 2024.

Step 4 - At the Surf Select National Showcase player gets selected for the Surf Select Blue or White team to compete domestically or internationally in 2024.

Players that are recommended by Club Directors will first be invited to attend their Surf Select Regional ID Event.*

Our Surf Select Regional ID Events takes place in the Summer/Fall each season. The dates are slightly different in each region, based around club calendars.

At the Regional ID events players have the opportunity to train with other talented players and coaches from their region. Players are also evaluated during the tryout process by Surf Select Regional coaches and club directors.

From the Regional ID Event, players can be selected to participate with their Surf Select Regional team at Surf Select National Showcase, San Diego in February 2024.

*Players from clubs that are situated in an isolated location will advance directly to our National ID Events in February based off Club director nominations.

SURF SELECT REGIONAL COMPETITION

At the Surf Select Regional ID Event players can be selected to partipcate on their Surf Select Regional team. All Surf Select Regional programs form teams from U9-U17, Boys & Girls (note not every program has a team at all age groups) to compete at selected tournaments or league play.

The Surf Select Regional teams give players the opportunity to represent your Club and Region with additional training and high level games in an exclusive environment.

Players train and play outside of their home environment for a unique experience with like minded players. Players will also receive a Surf Select Regional Training and Game uniform.

National Showcase - Game Schedule, College Coaches attending, Parking Pass, Field Map

We are excited for the new Surf Select National Showcase, which will bring together our best players and our Surf Select Regional teams from across the country, U15-U17, to one neutral location to compete in a college combine and showcase event.

The structure is designed for players to represent their region, showcase their talents in front of attending college coaches, and be identified for the Surf Select National Teams for 2024. This event is invite-only, exclusive to our community, and will represent some of the top talent across Surf Nation.

In addition to the college combine and showcase games, players will also have the chance to attend the College Panel on Saturday evening, featuring advice and Q&A with college coaching staff. All Showcase games will be recorded on BallerTV, with access to footage post event for teams and use in player highlight videos. College coaches will also have full access to all Showcase games.

Airport transport and transport to/from the hotels to Surf Sports Park are not included.

PLAYER RECRUITMENT

Welcome to the 2024 Surf Select National Showcase!

ScoutingZone® is our official onsite scouting/recruiting partner, which connects players and college coaches on the fields at our event. College coaches count on us to deliver accurate roster information, therefore it’s a tournament requirement for all players to register in SZ.

Players should ensure they sign up on scoutingzone pre-event. For players that already have accounts with their club, you can be added to your Surf Select Regional team for the National showcase as a guest player. Please contact your coach if needed.

At check-in Saturday morning, all players will receive a numbered sticker to place on the front of their shorts. All players to wear Navy Surf Select jersey, black shorts and black socks.

SURF SELECT NATIONAL SHOWCASE UNIFORM

All players will receive two Surf Select game jerseys from their regional program. Keepers will receive a Black/Grey long sleeve jersey. Outfield players will receive a Navy and Teal jersey.

Players should bring their own Surf/affiliate club warmup jacket, plus black nike shorts and black nike socks for the games.

SURF SELECT NATIONAL SHOWCASE
POST EVENT

At the end of the Surf Select National Showcase the coaching staff and assessors will submit player evaluations with feedback within 10 days.

By Monday March 11th, players will receive notification if they have been selected for one of the Surf Select teams for 2024. Players will be informed of one of four outcomes.

Players can either:

Be selected for the Surf Select 'Blue' team for your age group for 2024

Be selected for the Surf Select 'White' team for your age group for 2024

Be placed on the Reserve List for the Surf Select teams for 2024

Not selected at this stage for the Surf Select teams for 2024

For players that receive an offer for one of the teams, it is important to consider costs associated and research flight options, before accepting the roster spot and committing to the team.

Flights are not included in the event fee. For older players, to keep the cost lower, players are welcome to travel with our staff under supervision.

Refunds will only be guaranteed in the case of an injury.
