Fullstack Software Engineer

Based in Melbourne, Australia

Redbubble is hiring for Mid-level and Snr Full-stack engineers that value meaningful work, ownership, being valued for who they are as humans, and who find their fulfillment in solving complex challenges.

Who we are

Redbubble was born in 2006 in Melbourne with a simple mission. Give independent artists a meaningful new way to sell their creations. In today's uncertain world, we’re helping artists and designers across the planet to generate an income stream. Last year we paid over $100m in artist royalties.

Our teams work hard to make sure that Artists' creations are discovered, purchased, appreciated, and shared, and with over 60m items that are no small feat. So no matter what you do at the company, you can feel good knowing that you make it possible for creative people to connect with their customers through designs they love.

We value open-minded, open-hearted teams, who reflect a diversity of experience, identity, and perspective. Our differences make us smarter, and inclusive working cultures are healthy cultures. We are working hard to sustain a culture of belonging that promotes, advances, and celebrates diverse identities and voices. We are committed to building a workforce that reflects the artist and customer communities that we serve.

Bringing more creativity into the world takes all the crayons in the box, and we’re excited to hear from you.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with other engineering teams as well as business stakeholders in various departments.
  • Solve challenging problems at scale using cutting-edge technology.
  • Contribute to initiatives within the team and provide input into the technology roadmap.
  • Learn new tools, techniques, or technologies to help shape new opportunities for the business.
  • Facilitate design discussions of complex problems and design neat architectural solutions that other engineers can understand & implement.

What you’ll bring:

  • A strong foundation of high-quality engineering principles and practices.
  • Relevant commercial skills and experience in contemporary tech stacks (our stack is predominantly AWS / Go / Ruby)
  • ~5 years of experience in an agile Software Engineering team. We’re not hung up on years of experience, but this seems to equate to the skill levels we see in mid-level engineers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug issues in a complex production environment.
  • An ability to effectively manage your own workload in a remote distributed environment.
  • Preferably experience working within a web or platform-based business.
  • Ideally experience working in cross-functional teams.

What we'll offer you:

  • Meaningful work that allows you to contribute to a mission you believe in.
  • A safe and supportive place to continue to grow and hone your craft.
  • A diverse and inclusive work environment where you can connect with colleagues from around the world.
  • Generous paid vacation, sick leave, flexible work arrangements, and parental leave programs.
  • An opportunity to give back through community volunteer events and corporate partnerships like Code Like a Girl.

Hiring Process

Firstly speak with one of our recruiting team, learn a bit more about our business, our values, and have your initial questions answered ✅

Then have a chat with one of our engineering leaders to better understand how we build products and what your day today could look like. We call this a Meet & Greet, not an “Interview” 👍🏻

Tech challenge of some kind. This may be a take-home type assignment or a more technical interview with some of our team 💻

Meet some more of the team, possibly from the product team or another team completely. You’ll get more insight and understanding of how we could be a great fit for each other 🧠

Background checks and offers. Pretty self-explanatory, but from here we plan for onboarding and high fives. 🎉 🤚🏻
