Explore the World of Persimmons

  • Persimmon Paradise: Persimmons come in a few different varieties, but the most common are Fuyu and Hachiya. Fuyu persimmons are squat and taste great while they’re still firm. Hachiya persimmons are heart-shaped and best enjoyed fully ripe and soft.
  • Sweet and Silky: Fuyu persimmons are crisp and mildly sweet. Try slicing one and eating it like an apple! Hachiya persimmons, on the other hand, have a silky, custard-like texture and an extra-sweet flavor. They’re best spooned straight from the skin or added to desserts.
  • Flavor that Shines: Persimmons taste like fall and star warm notes of honey. They’re a perfect addition to seasonal salads or baked goods, but you can also enjoy them on their own for a simple treat.
  • Stars of the Autumn Show: California farmers harvest persimmons from September through November. Fuyus are ready to eat right after harvest, while Hachiyas need time to soften until their texture turns luscious and creamy.

How to Enjoy Persimmons: Simple and Fun Ideas

  • Persimmon Slices: Slice a Fuyu persimmon and enjoy it like an apple. It’s crisp, sweet, and perfect for a refreshing snack.
