Rich, creamy, and full of healthy fats, avocados are a unique and tasty fruit.
All About Avocados
Bumpy Beauties: Avocados typically have bumpy green skin (ranging from bright green to nearly black), creamy yellow-green flesh, and a single large pit. There are hundreds of varieties, some as tiny as chicken eggs and others bigger than softballs!
Later ‘Gator: Avocados are sometimes called “alligator pears.” They have a pear-like shape, and their skin looks a bit reptilian at first glance.
Smooth Like Butter: Avocados are creamy and slightly oily—ripe avocado slices can spread like butter. They have a mild, nutty, savory flavor.
Prime for Picking: Different avocado varieties ripen at different times, but the season peaks from April to July in California.
