Peaches get a lot of love in the summertime, but nectarines—their fuzz-free sisters—are just as juicy and delicious
All About Nectarines
Blushing Beauties: Most nectarines are multicolored, with yellow skin and a pretty red or orange blush. Inside, they can be sunny yellow or pearly white.
From Spheres to Saucers: Nectarines are usually round like peaches, but some are flat and shaped more like donuts or flying saucers. They can be bigger than a fist or small enough to finish in a few bites.
Sweet and Juicy: Like peaches, nectarines are known for their juicy sweetness. Taste for flavors like honey and vanilla, especially in white-fleshed varieties!
The Perfect Bite: Different nectarine varieties ripen at different times, but nectarine season peaks from May to September in California.
