For 15 years, Fit Kids has transformed schools and communities by making movement and mindfulness accessible to all children. What began with 12 sites and 420 students has grown into 190 partner sites serving nearly 30,000 kids across 11 states and 2 countries.
The evidence is clear, regular movement strengthens bodies, boosts moods, improves focus and grades, and builds confidence that lasts a lifetime. Daily activity lowers the risk of chronic disease by up to 58%, reduces depression risk by 25%, and increases classroom focus by 20%. Yet three out of four U.S. kids still do not meet daily activity recommendations.
In too many under-resourced communities, children go without PE teachers or safe places to play. In California alone, about half of all elementary school districts lack a dedicated PE teacher, and more than 80% of students don’t receive the legally required amount of PE time. Fit Kids is often the only source of structured physical activity, filling critical gaps with high-quality equipment, engaging curriculum, and tools that empower educators to make fitness and fun part of every child’s day.
But the demand for our program now exceeds our capacity. We hear from new schools and partners every week who want to bring Fit Kids to their students, and too often, we have to say no.
That’s where the Fit Kids Legacy Fund comes in. With an initial goal of raising $1 million in two-year pledges, the Legacy Fund is just the beginning, offering a powerful first wave of investment that will launch Fit Kids into its next phase of growth. This catalyst will provide the financial runway and strategic capacity needed to scale Fit Kids’ proven model nationwide, growing our team, strengthening our infrastructure, and forging partnerships that position Fit Kids as a national leader in physical activity and youth well-being.
As we celebrate 15 years of impact, we’re not just reflecting on how far we’ve come, we’re building what comes next. The Legacy Fund invites a deeper level of commitment that will power the next era of Fit Kids’ growth, ensuring that thousands more children have the chance to move, play, and thrive.
