"How The Grinch Met Rhoda"
How The Grinch Met Rhoda Proposal
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to read our story and becoming apart of our vision. Since an early age, theatre and music have deeply impacted our lives, My husband and I use our puppets to teach about Jesus. We teach the youth to FROG (fully rely on God). We don't charge money to the parents because we don't want money or lack there of to be a factor in whether the child can attend our program or not. We not only perform for the youth using puppets but for the last five years we started teaching the children how to act, dance and sing. We practice for two to three months and then they get to perform for their family and friends. We have used our own funds over the years to provide an outlet for the youth in the Augusta and surrounding cities but it's starting to take a toll on our finances considering we have three children and one grand baby who we also provide for. We're currently having a fundraiser so our ministry can become a non profit that way we can help more low income families give their children the necessary outlet to become positive members of society. We currently don't have a building or a stage that they can perform on so we pay to rent a space to practice every week and a theatre to perform in which is very costly. The hopes is that after this fundraiser we will be off to a great start to get our non profit status. This will help us get a building and a stage. With our new status we will be eligible for grants and other funds which will allow us to continue to make an impact on the youth and provide services at low or no cost. So far we have written and directed four productions in The Augusta Georgia area. Tabernacle Baptist Church Easter of 2017. Kingdom Full Gospel Easter of 2018. Augusta Mini Theatre June 2019. Kingdom Full Gospel May 2019. This will be our fifth production on Dec, 8th 2019 at AR Johnson. In our summer of 2019 drama program we once again was given the opportunity to work with multiple age groups, however this time around we noticed something different as we were teaching our summer drama classes. We realized how much of an affect it can truly have when you guide someone through their character. This was a great moment where the students got to explore their characters together in more depth. This is the reason why we do this, to witness moments just like this. We love the feeling when you are able to give direction to the actor/artist and they truly take it and make it their own, making a piece of art with you in the process. We would like to continue to impact the youth with our shows on a broader scope for B&B productions. Not only because we think we can do an amazing job but also because we are passionate with each production and believe that given the chance every child can be empowered to greatness, with the directing team we have chosen. We could really produce a fantastic product that would not only make us and our production team proud but also our church, their families and our God. Thank you for your continued support. God Bless.
A.R. Johnson is the perfect venue for our program. The Lecture Hall has the best stage that will accommodate all of our props and actors.
A.R. Johnson is a health, science and engineering school who was willing to open their doors for our vision for the future of our youth.
