Inspired by the BBC's 1966 documentary
In a fascinating short BBC film (see excerpt below), young students predicted what life would be like for them in 2020, at that point over 50 years in the future. With concerns ranging from nuclear Armageddon to battery farming, overpopulation, and mass unemployment caused by automation, the children's candid and thought-provoking responses still pack quite an emotional punch and are a surprisingly accurate and sophisticated description of the world we live in today.
Inspired by the BBC's 1966 film, we are producing A Child's Eye View 2043, featuring today's children from around the globe, living in diverse circumstances.
We intend 2043 to serve as a vehicle for pushing adults to think more deeply about today's world and their role in it, by acting as a catalyst for meaningful conversations about the world our children envision for themselves and future generations, as well as the steps we can take together to get there. Through showcases at events such as Davos and at a series of Signature Speakers events over the next few years, we intend 2043 to spark a global conversation, shift paradigms, and inspire action!
